| Bernadine and Dave Anderson We have been the owner/operators of the Stillman Inn since May of 2000. Previous to that we lived in Gurnee Illinois where Dave had been a Remodeling contractor for 26 years. During the last two years as Remodeling Contractors our business grew quicker than we could handle so we hired business consultants to help manage what had become a monster. One of the decisions we faced was how long we wanted to be running the Company as that would determine what we did with it. We decided that we would stay in the business for 10 more years and then purchase a bed and breakfast in Galena. Two weeks later, as we were on a regular visit to Galena, we stopped in to see a friend and anxiously told him of our plans. He mentioned that the Stillman was for sale now and that it would be perfect for us as it needed much repair. That afternoon we stopped in at the Stillman and spoke with the owner. We closed three weeks later! Despite what the kids tell you, they seem to be happy here in Galena as they, and our Grandchildren have more of our time now! |
"Thanks so much for making our stay at the Stillman Inn truly wonderful! It was nice being a part of your family this weekend and you part of ours. You've certainly made the Stillman Inn a very inviting place to stay and we'll definitely recommend it to our friends. Thanks again for everything."

Breakfast Strada
10 Large Eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
8 slices thick bread, cut into 1" cubes
(1 Italian or French bread loaf works great)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Optional fillings (choose one)
1 pound cooked pork sausage broken up
1 pound cooked ground beef
Vegetables (Green pepper, red pepper, broccoli, squash, etc.)
Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. In a large bowl beat the eggs with an electric mixer. Add the milk, salt, and dry mustard. Stir in the bread, cheese and one of the optional fillings thoroughly. Spread mixture in the prepared pan. Cover with foil and refrigerate at least 12 hours before baking. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Cut in large squares and serve with toast or English muffins. Serves 6-8 people. We pour small amounts of Hollandaise sauce over each slice!
Waffles
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 egg yolks 1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 egg whites
In a medium mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in center of dry mixture; set aside
In another medium mixing bowl beat egg yolks slightly. Stir in milk and oil. Add egg yolk mixture all at once to the dry mixture. Stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy).
In a small mixing bowl beat egg whites until stiff peaks form (tips stand straight). Gently fold beaten egg whites into batter, leaving a few fluffs of egg white. Do not overmix. Pour 1 to 1 1/4 cups batter onto grids of a preheated, lightly greased waffle iron. Close lid quickly; do not open until done. Bake according to manufacturer's directions. When done, use a fork to lift waffle off grid. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve warm.

A gift certificate from Bernadine's Stillman Inn makes a wonderful gift that can be used by the recipient at their convenience.
We recommend buying a dollar value towards a stay with a minimum value of $100. This provides the recipient with the ability to choose what type of room they want and when they will visit. We do require a two night stay on the weekends.
Amenities may be purchased in addition to the room. We offer a Romance Package that is ideal for honeymooners, Anniversaries and other special occasions. You can also purchase items individually such as flowers, wine, chocolates and dinner to make their stay complete!
It's never too late to order...call for details! We do not send gift certificates through email. As soon as we receive your order we will mail you a certificate (shown) to give to the recipient along with a full color brochure of the Stillman Inn. There are no refunds on certificates and they are non transferable.
